Simply Stampin’ Challenge #82 – Sketch Challenge

This week’s challenge at Simply Stampin’ is a Sketch Challenge.

I absolutely loooove the Comfort Cafe Designer Series Papers (p163 AC).  It looks beautiful as a background pattern on this card.  I have also used on this card the lovely Betsy’s Blossoms stamp set (p72 AC).  For the Happy Birthday sentiment I used the Memorable Moments stamp set (p139 AC).

Join us at Simply Stampin’ this week and make a project based on the following sketch:

Simply Stampin’ Challenge #81 – Make Your Own DSP!

This week’s challenge at Simply Stampin’ is to Make Your Own Designer Series Paper (DSP).  I got a bit carried away and made enough DSP to make 3 cards but I only used two sheets of cardstock!  Here is a photo of the first piece of cardstock that I stamped to be my Designer Series Paper:

I then cut the card stock into smaller pieces:

I did a bit more sponging along the edges before attaching the DSP to the cards:

I used two stamps sets: French Foliage (p86 AC) and Petite Pairs (p134 AC).

I hope you can play along with us this week at the Simply Stampin’.

Simply Stampin’ Challenge #78 – Stitch it!

This week’s challenge at Simply Stampin’ is a Sewing Challenge.  You need to sew (or faux sew) somewhere on your project. This is sew much fun!

I got out my embroidery thread from my long forgotten cross-stitch days.  I first stamped the stems of the flowers in Basic Gray.  I then used my Paper-Piercing Tool with the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack (p181 AC) and pierced evenly spaced holes by following the stamped image.  I used gray thread to sew through the holes.  Just to highlight ‘sewing’ I decided to add a bit extra to the side of the jar with some yellow thread.  I again used the Essential Paper-Piercing Pack as a guide to get even spacing.

Here is a closer look:

I absolutely love this new stamp set from the Holiday Catalogue called Perfectly Preserved (p29 HC).  This is the first chance I have had to ink it up!  I can’t wait to play with it again soon.

I hope you can play along with us this week at the Simply Stampin’ blog site.

Simply Stampin’ Challenge #77 – Colour Challenge

This week’s challenge at Simply Stampin’ is a Colour Challenge.  You need to make a project using Poppy Parade, Blushing Bride, Concord Crush and Whisper White.  In Australia these colours have just retired but remember you can substitute with other similar colours and still play along with the challenge.

I have used some NEW products on this card.  The flower and bird image are from the Betsy’s Blossoms stamp set (p72 AC).  The flower was inked up with Stampin’ Write Markers.  The oval around the sentiment was made using the NEW  Paper Piercing Tool and Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack (p181 AC).   The Happy Birthday Wishes is from the Petite Pairs stamp set (p134 AC) which was in the last catalogue but I have only recently purchased so is new to me!

I hope you can play along with us this week at the Simply Stampin’ blog site.

Cheers Deb

Simply Stampin’ Challenge #76 – Sketch Challenge

This week’s challenge at Simply Stampin‘ is a Sketch challenge.  You need to make a project based the following sketch:

I was asked this week to make a birthday card for a person that loves the outdoors and to kayak on the lake.  I used this weeks sketch challenge to get started.  I had decided to make a kayak using the bottom half of the boat from the Need for Speed stamp set (p68 AC)…. then I got stuck on what to do next.  After a bit of playing around I decided I would paint using my inks and aqua painter.  I have always considered myself unartistic until I found about stamping so this was a big step to have a go at a little free hand painting… I think I will stick to colouring my stamped images.

The Happy Birthday sentiment is from Bring on the Cake stamp set (p142 AC) that I have stamped on new Cotton Ribbon (p20 HC).  The designer series papers are from my retired stash.

Head over to the Simply Stampin’ blog site and take a look at the other Design Team members fabulous samples.

Simply Stampin’ Challenge #71 – Colour

I really struggled with my card this week for the Simply Stampin’ Challenge.  I decided to put together a card using some retiring products but my mojo seemed to disappear and nothing would work for me!  I then put the above card to the side and started on another card but made a big mistake (to big to recover from!). So I came back to the above card and made some more changes.  I am not completely unhappy with the card, just a bit heavy-handed with the color spritzer tool and maybe a bit too much bling!  My daughter loves it so maybe I am being a bit tough on myself…

I really hope you are up for the Simply Stampin’ Challenge this week and will play along.  It is a really beautiful colour combination:

I am hoping to get some uninterrupted time in my craft room tomorrow morning!  Let’s hope my mojo returns!

Cheers Deb
