Colour your Washi Tape with ink!

Coloured Washi Tape by Deb Fearns

Today’s card was created for the SUO Challenge #88 – Fun With New Toys!  I decided to play again with some of my favourite new toys from the upcoming Stampin’ Up! Seasonal Catalogue (28 Jan – 30 June).  How awesome does the Gold Watercolor Wonder Washi tape (sneak peek item) look coloured with ink!

I discovered this technique by accident as I have never seen this before (although I am sure I am not the first one to discover this).  I had been playing around with the painter’s tape technique and thought why can’t I just use washi tape instead as it is a similar low tack tape adhesive.  I then discovered due to the translucent pattern of the striped & dotted washi tape that it looked great coloured.

I loved this card so much and was excited about my new washi tape colouring technique that I shared it at the team meeting I hosted last night.  Everyone got to make the card!  I also shared with my fabulous team an easy way to create a watercolour style flower without the colouring.  The new Watercolour Wonder DSP has some great colour patterns that you can stamp the flower image directly onto then cut out.  Here is a close up of the flower (centre of flower coloured with Stampin’ Write maker):

This card uses a number of new Stampin’ Up! sneak peek items:  Gold Watercolor Wonder Washi tape, Happy Watercolor stamp set, Gold Sequins, Watercolor Wonder DSP and Sale-a-bration twine.

Gift in a Jar

Drinking Chocolate & Marshmallows Gift in a Jar by Deb Fearns

I love creating ‘Gift in a Jar’ presents  (see my other jars:  Click Here, Here & Here).  They are so cute once you have decorated the jar!

This jar was for a friend’s birthday present.  The jar has been filled with drinking chocolate on the bottom then topped with marshmallows.  I saw the idea one day while blog surfing and loved it (see Goodnyou? blog).

Did you notice the label… It is a Stampin’ Up! My Digital Studio product you can earn for FREE during Sale-a-bration starting 28 January (available as a rubber stamp or digital stamp).  If you live in Canberra (Australia) and want to know more about Stampin’ Up! products then email me or take a look at my Class Information page for my classes starting in February.

The label was designed in My Digital Studio where I added the sentiment using the fonts from my computer.  I printed off two copies to allow me to layer the flower petals.  Here is a closer look:

Happy Watercolor

FMS118 Challenge Happy Watercolor 2 by Deb Fearns

I am having so much fun playing with my new Stampin’ Up! goodies!  This card uses a couple of sneak peek items:  Gold Watercolor Wonder Washi tape, Happy Watercolor stamp set and Sale-a-bration twine.  I am also having fun participating in blog challenges.  Today’s card is based on the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #118.

Some details about my card…  I coloured two flowers with my Stampin’ Up! Write Makers: Crisp cantaloupe and Summer Starfruit.  I cut out one flower and layered it on top of the other flower with a Stampin’ Up! dimensional.  I also added a drop of crystal effects to the centre of the flower.  Here is a close up photo:

My demonstrator preorder from the upcoming Seasonal catalogue arrived this week!  Lots of new exciting products will be available to order from 28 January!  If you live close to me (Belconnen area – Canberra), I will be starting up classes again from my home in February.  I will provide more detailed  information on my classes soon.

This card includes three sneak peek items: So Very Grateful stamp set, Watercolor Wonder DSP and Gold Sequin Trim!  My card layout was inspired by Case Study #172 photo:

I loved the flowers in the photo and thought my new So Very Grateful stamp set could create a similar effect.  I inked my flower images with my Stampin’ Up! markers then used a blender pen with coordinating ink to colour in the image.  Here is a closer look:

The card is for a birthday boy turning 8 years old.  The plane stamp is from the retired Stampin’ Up!stamp set called Need for Speed.  I stamped the plane image with permanent StazOn black ink onto watercolour paper then used my Stampin’ Up! markers and watercolour pen to colour the image.

The card layout is from the Deconstructed Sketch Challenge No. 132:
